Self-Catering Accommodation Options

Tomjachu offers self-catering cottages and villas with African-inspired décor. Each unit includes a fully equipped kitchen, seating and dining areas, fans, and tea-and-coffee-making facilities. Some cottages, like Keeper's Cottage and Rock House, feature views of Bekker Mountain or the surrounding bush. Certain units have a private plunge pool; a communal swimming pool is at the Homestead. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, a smart TV, and keyless entry.

On-Site Dining and Meals

Meals are available upon request in the Lodge Dining room. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Guests highlight the quality of the food, including dishes like chocolate fondant and the bush dinner under the stars. The bar offers wine and champagne. For self-catering, each unit has BBQ facilities. The chef, Flonny, is known for her homemade marmalade.

Activities and Wildlife

The 550-hectare reserve has 26 km of well-marked hiking trails. Guests can see plains game such as zebra, impala, giraffe, and wildebeest. Activities include game drives, guided nature trails, mountain biking, and fishing. The property has an outdoor swimming pool with a view, sun loungers, and a picnic area with an outdoor fireplace. Temporary art galleries and walking tours are also available.

Location and Access Info

Tomjachu is located in a private nature reserve within the Crocodile Valley, 14 km from Nelspruit. It is 12 km from Nelspruit Golf Club and a 25-minute drive from Mbombela Stadium. Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport is a 40-minute drive away, and the Malelane entrance to Kruger National Park is 80 km. The access road includes 4.5 km of gravel; low-suspension sports cars may find it difficult. Free parking and an airport shuttle are provided.

Guest Services and Amenities

The retreat offers daily housekeeping, laundry, ironing, babysitting, and packed lunches. Pets are welcome with pet baskets and bowls. A shared lounge/TV area is available. For security, the property has CCTV, fire extinguishers, and a safety deposit box. Free Wi-Fi is provided throughout. The shuttle service includes airport transfers.
